The custom in Canada is to celebrate Mothers Day.
Like every other holiday it's been extremely commercialized.
It's the only day of the year that the world views motherhood in a positive aspect. The rest of the year, 'motherdom' is just in the way for women who want to succeed in climbing the corporate/social ladder. Or it is projected as something almost impossible to do, something to survive.
Some days that is true.
But, children are God's heritage.
Think on that for a second.
God, our very creator, The Omnipotent One, has placed something so very precious in our hands. To receive the gift of a child, is to see the very face of love itself.
God has given me a front row seat in the way he views me through my kids.
I act like a spoiled rotten child a lot.
I want my own way.
I think everyone should revolve around me.
But I depend on God for all that I have, like my kids depend on me.
In these incredible moments:
My son buries his face in my tummy fat and giggles
My daughter who sighs happily while gazing lovingly into my eyes, sharing a quiet moment in my lap.
My baby walking toward me, unsteady but confident, eyes shining like a clear spring sky in the morning.
Hearing my oldest beat on the drums, or compose a tune on the piano;
These little episodes remind me that I'm blessed beyond belief from my Heavenly Father.
I'm glad there is a day where my husband tries to do something nice, because society says he has to. But I'm also glad that my children don't need to be told by the T.V., Newspaper or the Internet that I'm someone to be proud of.
On another note,
Happy Mothers Day to all you ladies out there!
You're doing a marvelous job raising the next generation.
