Today!

I look forward to Thursdays.  It used to be because it is the best TV night in Canada, bar none.  Although since the evil digital monster decided to stomp out the analog bunny, my television days are spent watching Omni, patiently trying to follow a foreign language while waiting for the only watchable show to start.  Then, my Thursday evenings were filled with prayer and fellowship, which totally took the place of TV I can't understand anyway.  Now my Thursday nights have become free again and so the kids and I resumed watching for a certain delivery every week.

Oh yea-ah.

Flyer time!!

Since marrying and being a one income family (horrors!) I've had to learn some basic techniques to stretch a dollar.  Looking at what's on sale the coming week has helped.  I have actually learned to enjoy the weekly ritual.  I especially like looking at things I know I will never be able to afford/do/learn/need/make/etc.  Why?  Because looking at all the 'stuff' helps me to be content with what I have.  I know that's polar-opposite to what normal people would think looking at things would generate, but I like to look at stuff.  I think I've shared before how I love looking and experiencing other places, seeing a piece or part of who someone is in the expression of their surroundings that they have created over the years.  It's cool.  Witnessing the various ways these retailers try to bull**** their way into your bank account is also very interesting.

Look at how HAPPY everyone is the next time you pick up any catalog.  It gives off the impression that shopping there will be fulfilling and rewarding and that they are the only place you should go because their deals are the b.e.s.t.  The more experienced a bargain hunter I become, the better I am at discerning which place will sell out the fastest and when.  In essence, my Thursday's are my preparation for battle.

It's rewarding when you purchase that roast, or those pair of shoes for a ridiculously low price that you would have otherwise missed if you just tossed that paper left on your doorstep in the recycling bin.

So start a new ritual with your coffee today.  I guarantee you'll buy something.
