Flying Patties.

Today was a gorgeous, warm, 'taste-of-what-is-to-come' sort of day, a reminder that :

Spring has sprung, the grass has ris’,
I wonder where the birdie is?
There he is up in the sky,
He dropped some whitewash in my eye!
I‘m alright, I won’t cry,
I’m just glad that cows can’t fly!

As we were exploring outside, my thoughts turned to times when  I was a child, and the numerous nature walks we as a family would take.  I fondly remember playing at the creek, avoiding the leeches, catching crayfish, and just enjoying the sunshine as it kissed my skin.  Today, as I relished the warmth of Earth shedding the last coat of Winter I started worrying that us living in the City my children wouldn't experience the same freedom as I had.  And then, as I watched them play, poking at different holes they found with the sticks they picked up along the way, talking amongst themselves about finding snakes soon, pointing out different breeds of birds, and then a helicopter; I realized the only thing that mattered was that we were together, enjoying one another.  Last fall I had discovered a trail that led down close to the river, where we had the delight in collecting clam shells, some larger than my hand, and I know we will be spending a lot of time in that cove this summer.  Even though I am a City girl, there's nothing like the Country, and the impact it makes on a young life bringing more awareness of Nature and who created it.  I have the best of both worlds, and there is nothing I would trade to change anything about this life I am living so far.

Today gave birth to a hope of new beginnings and pleasant days ahead.
