One thing I have to offer, other then witty comments, or a gorgeous smile,
is a different perspective on life.
I don't notice things the way others do.
I don't see the small picture or the big one.
I see both.
I have been this way since forever, but didn't really care too much about this until the other night when my husband and I watched a movie together.
We couldn't have disagreed more on the plot.
We stayed up way too late talking about it because,
I was going to make him see my point
and he was frustrated as I plugged my ears while he shared his with me.
(figuratively, I'm not really like that.)
What is the difference between having morals, and just plain business sense?
Are non-converted people to be held to the same standard as biblical followers?
I am curious to know the perspective of others.
Then, I will continue with my thoughts on the matter, if anyone is interested.

The standard is the same - God's standard. Yet those who do not know God may not even try to adhere to God's standard. Those of us who do know God will have a heart to please Him, so we'll want to obey His law - His standard. We'll do it imperfectly.
ReplyDeleteFor example. Thou shalt not kill. Seems pretty simple. If we are to obey God, we ought not to kill. Most people would agree, but I would wager that the majority of them don't even consider that they are already murderers. As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. If he's ever thought, "I wish that person dead"... he's a murderer. Even if he has wished ill on another person, it's the same sin, and he is a murderer.
So, we're to obey God's standard, no matter who we are; but it is impossible to obey, because we are unrighteous. We will try to obey for good or bad reasons, but the person who is saved by grace will realize that any good that he does is only because of the grace of God working in him and through him. It's all about God's glory.
Clear? As mud??
^ What she said. ;) That's what I was going to say, too.
ReplyDeleteThe standard is God's. Yes, even unbelievers *WILL* be held to that standard. If we can meet God's standards in any way, it's only because of His grace.
The movie was "The Jones".
ReplyDeleteIt was a great marketing plan, original and effective. I would be surprised if some company didn't already do this.
Rachel's comment that we would be great at this was correct, we can both influence and persuade others well, however I replied as a Christian I couldn't do it.
God has one standard for everyone, and we all fall short. The difference is as Christians we must strive to reach the standard, non-Christians don't care.
I could not live a lie to sell product, I couldn't artificially create a desire for status and money. The people didn't need the stuff, the people made them desire it for social status. I think this is wrong, so I stated my opinion.
Everyone is under God's law, only the elect are save through Grace, the unelect are judged under the law.
"Are non-converted people to be held to the same standard as biblical followers?"
ReplyDeleteWell, yes. Converted people are the people who realized that they couldn't measure up to the standard that applies to ALL. The standard hasn't changed and will never change, it's Holiness.
