Busting Bridges

My oldest son is in a group called Calvinist Cadet Corps.

They meet once a week and earn badges, sing songs, read bible stories and memorize bible verses.

Since we home school, 'T' likes the fact that he has friends there. He's also got enough sense to realize not all of the boys who attend would make good friends. He's a little wise beyond his years.

Every year they have a competition called,

"The Bridge Bust".

Last year dad helped T with his project.

It failed miserably.

The cause of embarrassment for some.

My boy? He laughed about it and carried on. He was glad that people got enjoyment out of his failure.

This year, he elected to do it himself.

You can only use 100 Popsicle sticks, and school glue.

A dinky car must be able to drive across it.

I thought it was so cute!

Very crooked and not even touching in some spots.

I was a little worried about how it would perform. Last year was so horrible, I didn't think his ego would survive another fail. But he was so happy with his creation, and that he did it all by himself, I couldn't correct him.

He entered the competition with confidence.

And he got 5th out of 12!!

It held 125lbs!

He said next year, he'll make sure he builds it all at once, instead of in stages.
