6 Reasons Why A Parent Is Disabled

I joked at the expense of someone else that they are disabled, being a parent, this rings loud and true.  So it got me to thinking, why are kids disabling?  The definition of disabled is here.

**Please don't take offense if either you, or someone you know and love has a severe life altering impairment that inhibits them or yourself from fully enjoying your life.  I am coming from a world view that every single human being is equal, all have been fearfully and wonderfully made by God, and have been given life for his good purpose. Psalm 139:14

I love my children, but my lifestyle has significantly changed once they came into the picture.  Do I revolve everything around them?  Not intentionally, but it does happen, they are needy needy needy.

  1. Since children sleep has become a novelty.  A tired person does not perform as well as an untired person.
  2. My sex life has severely decreased, and I feel like I'm cheating on my children if I sneak away with my husband to indulge...but I do so anyway because I am a hot blooded creature!
  3. My social life is almost nonexistent.  We do not get invited many places, and it usually involves leaving our children at home which then they turn around and punish me the next day for leaving them.  How dare I.
  4. Can not accomplish one thing at one time, but must learn how to do multiple tasks at once, like writing this blog, answering questions and holding two kids on my lap while reaching for the phone with my foot to knock it off the receiver and hollering at the caller to "Hold on!"
  5. There is not a day that goes by that someone doesn't defecate somewhere other than the toilet.
  6. I must schedule EVERYTHING and ensure I do not overlap said schedule because the consequences are profound.
So there you have it, I am sure there are more laughable reasons but like I said the lack of sleep, sex, friends, multitasking, urine/feces and forced orginizationalism are enough for me to consider myself disabled.

I want one of those little blue signs.
